Stefania Goulioti

It was undoubtedly the great production of Epidaurus, the “Electra” of Sophocles, by Peter Stein, capable of attracting (as was done in the two sold out performances) an enlarged theatropublic audience. Electra itself was interpreted then by the-almost unknown – 26-year-old graduate of the National Theater Stefania Goulioti. “I wanted very young, almost inexperienced actors for key roles,” Stein said in a press conference. The process of rehearsals, with the actors staying for five weeks in Stein’s estate in Umbria in Italy, and working all together, contributed to the creation of a team spirit. Peter Stein entrusted such a difficult mission to Stefania , who was particularly honored . It was the most difficult role of her life until that moment, and after her performance in this role and plenty of praiseworthy critics, she was now the protagonist, followed by a number of other important roles in Epidavros and other theaters.
